About this role

As the Head of Data, you will be pivotal in steering the entire data function of OBT Live. You will lead the charge in setting the strategic direction for data management and analytics, ensuring that we harness our data to drive insights, optimise operations and create innovative solutions. Your leadership will help us implement best practices across all data-related activities, reinforcing our commitment to leveraging data as a key asset in our business strategy.

Day to day responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy:

Lead and inspire the data team, acting as the chapter lead to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Define and execute the data strategy, aligning it with the company’s goals and ensuring it supports our business objectives.
Oversee the development and implementation of data governance frameworks and best practices.

Data Management and Analytics:

Ensure the design, build and maintenance of scalable and robust data platforms and pipelines to support our LiveOps activities and other business needs.
Champion the use of data to drive decision-making across the organisation, providing insights into customer behaviours and operational performance.
Lead the integration of new data management technologies and tools, ensuring they are seamlessly incorporated into existing structures.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering and Marketing, to support data-driven initiatives and campaigns.
Act as a key point of contact for data-related queries and provide expert guidance on best practices and strategic data use.
Collaborate with Sales and Pre-Sales Teams: Partner with sales and pre-sales teams to help customers define and implement their data strategies, particularly in relation to enhancing end-user engagement and optimising their data-driven initiatives.
Provide pre-sales support by articulating the value of our data solutions and how they can meet the specific needs of prospective customers.

Innovation and Best Practices:

Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in data management and analytics, continuously seeking ways to innovate and improve our data capabilities.
Ensure adherence to data protection regulations and the highest standards of data security and privacy.

What we're looking for

Proven experience in a senior data leadership role with a strong foundation in data management, analytics, and governance.
Demonstrated expertise in leading and growing data teams, with a track record of implementing successful data strategies and best practices.
Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and cloud-based analytics tools such as Synapse, Databricks and Azure.
Extensive experience with large-scale data architecture, including both structured and unstructured data.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of inspiring and guiding a diverse team of data professionals.
Robust knowledge of data protection regulations and practices.

Desirable skills

Experience in the LiveOps or gaming industry and familiarity with data analytics within this context.
Advanced understanding of machine learning techniques and their application in real-world scenarios.
Certified in relevant cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
Highly autonomous, with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.
Customer-facing experience with a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and customer success.
